Lara's Home from 1996 to 2008

In November 1996, gamers around world got their first glimpse of intrepid British adventurer Lara Croft. It was first time for everyone, so our first goal was to learn how to control Lara and move around in her world.
Core Design was there for us, so they added something that they thought that can help us to learn how to control Lara. That was small level or training area called "Lara's Home". At first it was only area that was there to help us with our needs, but later it was something more than that.
For fans of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft her house was more than training area, it was place of fun and place where we know that Lara was safe.

Soon after Tomb Raider (1996), Lara's House was much bigger and it was more of adventure than of place where we need to learn how to control her. But fans wanted to see more, because there where a lot of rooms that we where unable to get in. But when Tomb Raider 3 came out, her House was just amazing, new rooms, new puzzles and new look, it was something that we all will remember.

But later after Tomb Raider 4, Core Design decided not to design new Lara's Home for us, that was one big minus for them and for Tomb Raider. Seven years after that when Crystal Dynamic took over, Lara's Home was back to the business. But it wasn't something that was cool for me, to see the same house as it was in Tomb Raider Movie. It was very interesting to explore her new home as well, but the old memory of Lara's House from the past was still somewhere in my mind and in the minds of all the others.
2006 was the year where I decided which House was my favorite and it was Lara's House from Tomb Raider 3.

This House is still in my memory, and even today I love it so much. It is so big and is it full of secret rooms and fun places like place where you can drive Lara's Bike.
So which House is your favorite:

Tomb Raider 1- Where we first saw her house, it was more of training area, but it was still fun
Tomb Raider 2- Where we first saw Winston and outside area
Tomb Raider 3- Where we have our first real "Lara's Home Adventure"
Tomb Raider Legend- Where we saw the same house as it was in Tomb Raider Movie
Tomb Raider Anniversary- Where we first saw "new" outside area
Tomb Raider Underworld- Where we saw her house on fire

Post your comment and let us know, which one is your favorite and why.

  1. The one I explored the most is the one in Tomb Raider 2, so I would choose that one. I saw videos of the other ones and they are cool, but nothing comes close to the nostalgia power of the second one. ;)

  2. I like the TR2 and 3 versions of Croft Manor about equally. Lara's treasure room with the artifacts is cool, but I'm not a big fan of the quad bike course. I'd rather just run around.

The Anniversary manor is pretty but you have to do way too much running around and backtracking to get anything done. I know they must have added the long hallways between the main hall and the side areas to make it seem more realistic, but it's very tedious running along corridors and opening all those doors.
